Bahia Honda State Park

South Florida is blessed with numerous, beautiful state parks. One of my favorite is Bahia Honda State Park located on Big Pine Key at MM 37 about 2 miles south of the 7 Mile Bridge and approximately 2 hours’ drive from Miami.

The scenery on the drive with the ocean on both sides is beautiful and relaxing so the time just flies by! And, with so much to do and see at Bahia Honda you’ll want to make multiple visits.

Historic Homestead Town Hall Museum

The Historic Homestead Town Hall Museum, built in 1917, is located in Homestead Historic Downtown District, across the street from the newly renovated Losner Park.

The museum is filled with historical artifacts, copies of photographs of early families and places plus articles about early Homestead.

The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed, and there are books and cards for sale.

Deering Estate

The Deering Estate preserves the 1920s era Miami estate of Charles Deering. Nestled along the coast in South Dade, the Deering Estate is a cultural asset and historic site listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As a 21st Century museum destination for tourists and local residents, a variety of signature events, programs, tours and classes are offered throughout the year.

The Deering Estate is located at 16701 SW 72 Ave. in Miami.

Homestead Trolley to National Parks

The Homestead National Parks Trolley regular season will run from January 7 - April 9, 2023 and will continue to offer a free guided trolley tour from Downtown Homestead to Everglades and Biscayne National Parks with an additional stop at Homestead Bayfront Park.

Historic Black Police Precinct Courthouse Museum

The Historic Black Police Precinct Courthouse and Museum is Open for your Safe and Enjoyable Experience. “The Colored Precinct”, as it was called, was built in 1950 in the heart of “Downtown-Overtown”, the most popular and dynamic Black Community in the City of Miami at that time.

This museum is a resting place for historical memorabilia of the first black police officers in the City of Miami.

Stiltsville Guided Historic Tour

On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, explore through the northernmost parts of Biscayne National Park to see the alluring historic Stiltsville Houses!

Departing from Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove, Stiltsville tours will take you for an up-close look at the village in the bay. Stiltsville is a reminder of the time when this area was known to be the playground for the wealthy.
